While doing some reading last week, I found out that the Merckx of 67 (Janssen) and the Merckx of 69 (Wouters Meulemans), shared a common ancestry. So, I have diagramed the relationship to make it easier to see. I also expanded the Janssen line as there is so much written about this family.
While doing my research, I came to a better understanding of the so called "Half Fabry", one of the very few crosses that the Janssen Brothers introduced and by many accounts the last cross they ever made. Victor Fabry came to the Janssens Brothers and asked to purchase a good record bird called "De Trage", who had several wins, in order to cross "De Trage" on a daughter of Fabry's best race winner "Porthos", who had won over 2 million Belgian Francs in just two years. Fabry offered to give a youngster off of this mating to the Janssen brothers and the next year, the "Half Fabry" arrived at the brothers house. The "Half Fabry", won five races for the brothers and was then moved to the breeding loft. Mated to the "Schoon Licht van 61", the "Half Fabry" produced many good birds includingl the "Oude Witoger of 65", and the "Geschelpte van 62" who when mated to the "Stier van 55" produced the "Donkere Stier". The "Donkere Stier" was the sire of the "Oude Merckx v 67".
You will find the diagram in an attachment below. Be sure to come back from time to time to see if I have updated the diagram as I will do that if more information becomes available.
